Our Ethos

The underlying characteristic spirit of Coombes Wood is the belief that the people who live in that community are of central importance, regardless of their background, disability or care needs.

The Philosophy of Care at Coombes Wood is, therefore, that each person will receive kind and compassionate care, according to an individual care plan, in an atmosphere of calmness and in an organised and systematic manner, whilst striving to ensure an enriched and stimulating life.

Mission Statement

“Our mission is to become recognised as the epitome of high quality care: a place to go to live, not a place to go to die, to improve and enhance life quality where possible; to continue to experience life’s pleasures despite frailty. This will be achieved by maintaining a team of kind, caring and experienced staff led by a Manager whose understanding of the needs of older people is second to none.

The Staff must receive continuous training in the latest techniques and care philosophies. We must attract the most professional carers available, staff who have the ability to interpret the Manager’s high standards of care into each and every working day.

From this basis, Coombes Wood will thrive as a happy and vibrant place to live where the staff will always give love, kindness, respect, understanding and dignity to the people who choose to live here. This in turn will enable the residents to recognise and feel they are wanted and at home at Coombes Wood and help them to feel settled and content and ready to enjoy this next phase of their life.”
